Julie Nise, MA, LPC, LMFT, CH
Before getting her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology in 1996, Julie worked for 20 years in sales and management for high-tech medical device corporations. And she was an EMT for fun. (She thinks emergency medicine is really interesting.)
Besides this extensive business/corporate background, Julie has had a wide variety of clinical training and experience including marriage and couple communication work, premarital preparation, high-risk teens, sexual abuse, impulse control, marriage/family coaching and hypnosis.
Julie is a master practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and frequently uses that as part of the way she helps people make the changes they want very quickly. Sometimes hypnosis can be a valuable tool as well, and Julie is a certified hypnotist with the National Guild of Hypnostists.
The Dr. Phil Show has been an active part of Julie’s practice for several years, and she often sees clients referred from the show for follow up. She has been invited to appear on the Dr. Phil Show five times since 2006. See Julie’s Profile on the Dr. Phil Show Web site.
Julie has worked as a therapist for a high school, in Family Serivces with the United States Marine Corps, in a private psychiatric hospital, and currently sees individuals, couples and families in her office in Friendswood.
She is first generation Italian/Scottish, well-traveled, happily married, has lots of opinions, a very balanced life, and is doing exactly what she loves most. Her hobbies include gourmet cooking, tropical vacations, training two very clever Border Collies, Border Collie rescue work, and gardening when the weeds aren’t too thick. (Hey, it’s Texas, okay? Things grow big down here.)
As a published author, Julie enjoys writing about topics to help couples and families achieve happiness and understand each other better. Visit Julie’s store for books published on Parenting and Marriage advice.
Marta Brown, Office Manager / Special Project Coordinator
A native Houstonian, Marta brings to her job a tremendous amount of experience in corporate business and customer service. Married to her sweetheart, Gary, for 30 years, she has two grown children. She currently shares her home with two furry feline children, Isabeau and D’Artagnon. Her outside interests include jewelry making, graphic design and knitting. So, if you need a new necklace, new website art or a scarf, you can make your request when you see her! She is exceptionally creative, as her ‘crafts’ will show.
Marta will be mostly helping behind the scenes, updating and improving our web, video and marketing presence, and organizing office systems and information you need in new and better ways. Some of her new special projects include setting up speaking engagements and a radio show for Julie, and re-editing our very important client video library. She may occasionally answer the phones, and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. You can’t miss her when she’s driving around… she has a very cute little blue convertible!
Lucy was born in Santa Barbara, California and grew up there until her family moved to the midwest at the beginning of her high school years. She met her husband, and both their son and daughter were born there. They spent four years in Florida, then moved to Texas in 1989, and have been here ever since. They’ve lived in Friendswood for the last 12 years. With the children now grown, they enjoy their two dogs named Jade and Bear, and a cat named Xena.
Lucy is now a happy entrepeneur – she owns a budding business selling homemade salsa, preserves and jalepenos at the different Farmers Markets around the city as well as doing catered events and special orders. Be sure to talk to her if you need any events catered! Or, order one of her pies. They’re fabulous!
Lucy will usually be the one answering when you call, and is known for her up-beat, positive energy with clients! She’s a “can-do” kind of girl and is sincerely interested in how she can help you, or make your experience with us even more pleasant. If you have any special requests or questions, just ask.
Jake & Blaze
We have two very important jobs here at AIM Counseling Center. First, when people come in, we go up and say hi right away – to make you feel at home. Then I’ll probably go get my squeaky toy so we can play. I especially like kids because they like playing fetch almost as much as I do. You can pet us or play with us, or we’ll just sit with you a while…. we have lots of love to give if you just need a friend with fur.
We like going out in the back yard, too, because that’s where we do our other important job: chasing squirrels or barking at the garbage truck. (We’ve never actually caught either one, but we really like to chase them.)
We proudly support the people and organizations who help, rescue and re-home the millions of animals in need.
Remember to spay and neuter your pets.
There are many more puppies and kitties than homes to take them.
Make sure all your animals have microchips, tags or collars for identification so we know who to call when we find them!

Border Collie Rescue
Jake, spray painted red, beaten, and thrown out of a moving truck, was just hours away from being put down in a Sulphur, Louisiana shelter, when a volunteer from a rescue organization came in and saved him.
Just before Blaze, with every rib showing, covered with fleas and suffering with a worm infestation, was going to be shot dead by her male owner because he was mad at her for chewing something, the female owner took her to a shelter where she was given 7 more days to live, she was taken in by BCRT.
To contact Border Collie Rescue to adopt available, rehabilitated, wonderful, beautiful, quirky Border Collies, or to simply offer a tax-deductible donation to help foster homes keep and care for injured or neglected Border Collies until they can find a forever home, please click the link below. Your donation will be GREATLY appreciated.
BCRT is a volunteer non-profit organization which accepts Border Collies from owners, shelters, and other rescuers. Some rescues are pedigreed, some look and act purebred but have no verification, a few are known BC mixes. Rescues are 1 to 3 years old, on average, but we do receive puppies and seniors on occasion. All BCRT listed dogs are spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated and heartworm free and on preventive.
BCRT matches families with Border Collies of compatible temperament and abilities. Fosters whenever possible try to evaluate all Border Collies with cats, other dogs, children, herding, agility, obedience, etc. A rescue dog will bond with a new family. Dogs seem to know when they’ve been ‘saved’ and have a desire to work with the new people in their lives.
- To provide proper emotional and physical care to Border Collies whenever possible.
- To spay or neuter all rescued dogs unless precluded from doing so for health reasons.
- To educate the public in regards to the nature, needs and natural tendencies of a Border Collie.
- To place rescued Border Collies in appropriate homes after proper screening.
- To euthanize those dogs that are unable to function properly within society due to health or mental reasons.
- To actively raise funds to meet Border Collie needs.
- To respectfully come to the aid of other Rescuers whenever possible.
- To teach and support those individuals that have adopted Border Collies.
